An Education in Making a Blog Sticky

by Mallory Stingley

It is very easy to want to create a blog on, well, any topic really. The Internet is brimming with blogging services that allow you to launch your own blog for free. Obviously, however, if you don't build a base of loyal readers, it won't matter how much time and effort you put in to your content creation and site design. If you want your blog to be as sticky as possible, you should work on every little part of it. There are a lot of reasons that a person will choose to visit a blog over and over again but trying to take on all of those reasons at once isn't a good idea. This is why you need to begin building the stick rate of your blog slowly and steadily so that you can grow right along with it over time.

Don't ever forget that the reason people visit a blog is because they are hoping to connect with someone on a particular topic or subject. This means that everything on that blog from the content to the way you interact with visitors needs to have a personal feel to it. It takes real work to build a "personal brand" and don't expect it to happen quickly. But when your readers feel the connection with you on a personal level, they'll be able to trust you better and find your blog's content even more useful and attractive. This will make your blog more sticky and get your readers to visit back often.

Work to build a kind of anticipation on your blog so that your readers always want to read more.

Finally, perhaps the best way to increase your blog's stick rate is to work on your branding. This will help your blog stand out from the rest and your new visitors will be able to instantly recognize the strong brand value and understand the main aim of your blog. You should be able to infuse this into your blog's design, content, logo, wherever you have the opportunity to strengthen its image in front of your readers. This, in turn, creates your unique selling point as well as helping you build a stable of loyal readers.

All in all, from this article we can see what blog stickiness is all about and how it helps you stand out. If you know how to think outside the box, there are lots of ways to make this happen. No matter what niche you've chosen for your blog, as long as you have a growing and loyal readership level, you'll be able to get a lot from your blog every day that you work on it. If you can build a strong foundation for your blog there's no reason you won't see a growing readership and stick rate.
